Native app, or one codebase for both platforms?
A native app is built separately for each platform, in Swift for iOS. It’s the fastest, makes the best use of the camera, location, widgets or Apple Watch, and feels the most natural. It pays off when the app is your core product or when you mainly target iPhone users.
Cross-platform development (React Native) produces one app for both iOS and Android. Development and maintenance are cheaper and faster. For most business apps built around forms, lists and orders, you won’t notice a difference.
Don’t forget about running costs. An app needs updating with every new version of iOS and Android, and usually a backend and an admin too. We include that in the estimate from the start.
